Back in 2011, one of DC's most iconic superheroes underwent a transition, costume-wise, when DC launched the New 52 reboot.  Superman's former outfit was replaced with Kryptonian battle armor, and included the removal of his red trunks. Take a look below:

Now, he's got a new look. A few months ago, DC Comics teased us with a "new costume" and "new powers" coming to the iconic hero. Check out the new costume below, courtesy of Comic Vine:

The Man of Steel's new costume features the return of the yellow buckle on his new less bulky belt, the addition of fingerless gloves, a pair of boots that look more like the classic ones, and lesspiping on the costume itself, making the costume look less armor-like. However, it looks like the iconic red trunks aren't coming back anytime soon, even with these revisions. Artist John Romita Jr. promised a "new costume, new powers, and new friends and enemies" in the upcoming Superman #38. He definitely did deliver a new look for the DC hero while adding some elements of the past. In my opinion, the new look isn't too bad, I'm just not digging the gloves too much. For me, it seems a little odd for him to have those, especially since they're a part of the sleeves; I'm used to him having either no gloves or gloves, never the in-between. I guess it adds to the look in a different way. I did love how the artist incorporated a more classic look on the boots, though! It reminded me of the Superman cartoons I watched when I was a young girl. Without the armor-like costume, it looks quite refreshing and definitely more lightweight. With the return of the yellow belt buckle, it's a nice distraction to the overpowering blue and red. Overall: 9/10 Superman #38 will be hitting the shelves this Wednesday.
