Sutton Foster is a woman of may talents. An actress, dancer, and singer, she is most known for her Tony Award winning roles in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Anything Goes. She was also the star of the failed ABC Family dramedy Bunheads.
But, Bunheads fans, the odds are in our favor and nearly five months after the ballet series was canceled, Foster has been cast in a new television pilot for TV Land. The pilot is written by Darren Starr. Based on the novel of the same name, the show entitled Younger tells the story of suddenly single New Jersey housewife and mother who, in her 40s, is unable to restart her career. In a risky move, she decides to lie about her age and successfully passes herself off as a 20-something upstart publisher and lands a job in the city’s hottest publishing company.
Starr, who created the long running HBO series Sex and the City, will write the pilot and then executive produce the comedy.
Foster, who was once married to The Sound of Music: Live‘s Christian Borle, earned a Teen Choice Award and a Television Critics Award nomination and took home the Gracie Allen Award for her breakthrough role of a Las Vegas showgirl, in Bunheads, who decided to marry on a whim and move to a small town. After moving she finds herself teaching in a ballet school with her new mother-in-law.
The Broadway alum, whose other works include Les Miserable, Annie, and Shrek The Musical has three new movies in the pipeline, ready for release as well as another stint on stage in the play Violet.
There is no word, yet, on when Younger will air on TV Land. There have also been no other casting announcements.
