You’ve probably heard of the Swedish songstress named Loreen before thanks to her victory in 2013′s Eurovision Song Contest with her smash hit, “Euphoria”. The songstress is now kicking off this brand-new era of hers with the release of an all-new single, titled “Paper Light (Higher)”.
If you’re looking for one of the songstress’ significant tunes, you’ll probably be left disappointed. The track kicks off peacefully and slowly builds into an extremely anthemic chorus, but there’s no denying it’s quite toned down, compared to her electrifying dance-pop offerings of the past - “My Heart Is Refusing Me” anyone? To make things clear, “Paper Light (Higher)” is far from bad and Loreen does deliver an outstanding vocal performance on top of the airy, ethereal and atmospheric production. It’s just that it does not seem to be on Heal'slevel of good.
“Paper Light (Higher)” serves as the first offering to be lifted from the songstress’ forthcoming, sophomore studio album. The long-awaited record is expected to arrive later this year and will be a follow-up to 2012′s Heal. With this year’s Eurovision Song Contest approaching, the track should be expected to receive the required promotion through the event, with a topless performance at the Melodifestivalen already causing a fuss.
