Swedish Fish Oreos Now Available For A Limited Time

Oreo has introduced a new flavor. For a limited time, residents of Ohio can purchase ‘milk’s favorite cookie’ with Swedish Fish flavored filling.

Oreo has brought many different flavors into cookie form that people seem to either love or hate.  For residents of Ohio, there’s a new flavor to judge.

Milk’s Favorite Cookie has now taken on the limited edition form of classic chewy candy – Swedish Fish. The classic chocolate wafers sandwich a cherry-flavored frosting filling, but these limited edition Oreos are only available at Kroger stores.

With flavors such as Birthday Cake, Cool Mint and Pumpkin Spice, one might think that fans are excited for this new flavor. But since it looks like not many people even asked for the Swedish Fish flavored cookie to begin with, fans aren’t too excited to try it out.

Some of the reviews so far aren’t promising either. According to a Today Show contributor, there was some initial concern immediately upon opening the container.

“The moment I opened the package, an overwhelming fragrance of the classic gummy candy permeated my desk area. To say that I was terrified as I took my first bite of the bright red cream-filled cookies is an understatement,” said the reporter. “It wasn’t what I was hoping for so I made the rest of the Today team taste them too. A majority of the editors couldn’t finish a full cookie.”

Another review by a CBS reporter was not too hopeful either.

“The creme itself tastes exactly like a Swedish Fish, so good job there,” stated the reviewer. “But when combined with the chocolate cookie, everything goes wrong. By the second bite, the Swedish Fish flavor waned and all I could taste was medicine.”

The original Oreo Biscuit was developed by the National Biscuit Company, also known as Nabisco, in 1912. Although people aren’t certain how the cookie, which is technically called the Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookie, earned the common nickname of “Oreo”, the cookie would eventually gain the title of the best selling cookie in the United States.

What do you think? Was this flavor a good idea? What other flavors do you think Oreo should take on next? Let us know!
