Inspired by Pink, Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony and Ed Sheeran among others, having earned herself features in and coverage from publications such as Beyond The Stage and BreatheHeavy, and having worked with some big names in the industry including singer-songwriter Sizzy Rocket (Hey Violet, Flosstradamus), producer/recording artist Mike Hart (Black Veil Brides), and songwriter Michelle Buzz (Lauren Jauregui), there’s no denying that Sydney Jaffe has already established herself as an artist to watch – if you’re not watching and following her already.
As an artist who supports and champions body positivity, having gone through her own struggles in the past, and as someone who is a big believer in girl power, Sydney uses her platform to help inspire young girls like herself and hopes to be and present herself as a strong role model for those who connect with her and her music and her new single, “Sweet Validation”, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere, is sure to find it hits home with many who hear it.
Sydney says of the creative process to and behind the track: “We actually wrote “Sweet Validation” on Zoom while I was home in NYC for 3 months this past Winter. I am all about the tangible writing experience so I was pretty against the idea of co-writing a song over Zoom, but I have never been more thankful that I hopped on that call. I had been feeling like I really was not that inspired to write music lately because, ever since quarantine, the world has felt so grim and I didn’t want to write music about the awful state of the world. Once I got onto the zoom call with Sizzy and we kind of just started to talk about the things in our lives that were taking up space in our brains, “Sweet Validation” was quickly born.”
The song also has a personal touch and undertone to it, as she explains: “As a 21-year-old in college, it is so easy to get wrapped up in the need for attention and the need for validation from anyone and everyone I am surrounded by; that is really what this song is about. I barely hear people own up to the fact that we look for that validation when we act a certain way or when we post a certain picture on social media. This song, to me, is an anthem of admittance which is why it means more to me than ANY other song I have ever worked on.”
She goes on to add: “Not only does the message of this song mean so much to me but I think that I have finally found a sound for myself. This mix of urban music and pop is a direction for my music I am so incredibly excited about. This song overall is one that I am so proud of: it’s vulnerable, it’s badass, it’s relatable, and most importantly it is completely real.”
