It’s a sad day for horror fans who like a little bite in their television. After 4 years on the air, Being Human has been canceled. Its final episode will air April 7th, 2014.

Based on a UK series of the same name, the program focuses on four monsters (literally) trying to live a normal life. Each character struggles with their inner battle of bestiality vs. humanity.  Sometimes, there is no clear winner.

While their situation is very supernatural, the events Aidan, Sally, Josh and Nora face are relatable. Josh and Nora struggle with marriage and fertility. Sally is a woman struggling to find a voice and her own strength after being in an abusive relationship.  Aidan is a man who has a constant struggle with addiction. What is more human than all of that?

As to their decision to end the show, SyFy released this message: “Showrunner Anna Fricke and the talented producers, writers, cast and crew have done an amazing job bringing this show to life over the past four seasons and we sincerely thank them and the series’ production company Muse Entertainment for their hard work. They’ve saved the best for last with the final six episodes that revisit the story’s beginning, leading to a not-to-be-missed send-off for Aidan, Sally, Josh and Nora.”
