Chloe Arnold and the Syncopated Ladies dropped their newest rhythm tap video this past week on Election Day. Perhaps the group was celebrating what they thought would be a Clinton victory. However, the inspiring and organic message brought to us by the Syncopated Ladies is even more needed in the wake of the uncertainty that comes with a future Trump presidency.
And that’s precisely why we wanted to share the video with you.
In their latest tap video, bright red tap shoes pop against an urban rooftop to write paragraphs of strength, unity, and perseverance that compliment Andra Day’s “I Rise.” Excerpts from inspirational speeches by leaders like Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Beyonce and America Ferrera are also integrated into the track. The tap dancers in the video are Chloe Arnold, Maud Arnold, Anissa Lee, Assata Madison, and Orialis Serrano Ashley. The video was directed by Becca Nelson and choreographed by Chloe Arnold.
You don’t need to be a tap dancer to understand the message communicated in this video. Though we must admit, it makes us want to grab our own tap shoes and take to the streets. The emotion radiates through the screen, and we’ve found it empowering. We hope that it brings you the same feeling of strength.
