Want to host an epic premiere party for The Walking Dead, but you don't have time to comb the internet for suggestions? Sure, you could just order a pizza or get some take-out Chinese, but that's boring, and you'd be wasting the opportunity to take advantage of a truly awesome theme. Well, you're in luck because we've done the leg work for you and have come up with some deliciously gruesome and easy ideas! All of these ideas can be accomplished with just one trip to your favorite grocery store!
First up, the Zombie Meat Buffet:
Buffet style is the way to go for any get-together like a premiere party. It's less work for you, and people can get just what they want and enjoy! This Zombie Meat Buffet is the perfect centerpiece to your The Walking Dead party, and, best of all, it's EASY! Just grab an old pair of jeans and a shirt (laundered, of course). Then, dirty them up with some fake blood and hit up the deli department of your local grocery store (or a chicken wings/barbecue joint) and display a nice variety of meats creatively against your clothing by slicing up the legs, opening the shirt and nestling the containers inside. It's amazing what you can do with some chicken, sausage links and some ribs! Watch your guests "ooh" and "eew" as they pick apart the corpse on your dining room table.
Of course, no party is complete without chips and dip. So get creative! Hollow out a head of cauliflower, use some fruit roll-ups for added brainy-ness, stuff it with guacamole and set out your favorite chips! Voila! Braaaaaaaains! Get the recipe here.
Another delicious party staple is deviled eggs. Corrinna Johnson serves up this ghoulishly yummy version to add the perfect side to your undead feast! Find the full for recipe Deviled Brains on her blog!
Who wants popcorn?! Tonight's season premiere is bound to be a popcorn-munching good time, but regular popcorn simply will not do! Paper And Parcel offers up this zombified version of your favorite movie treat with only a few simple additions to your freshly popped popcorn! Serve it all up in some simple brown paper bags from the grocery store, and watch as it goes flying with fright during tonight's show! Get the full recipe here.
Naturally, your cocktail of choice should be the Zombie. Two different kinds of rum, triple sec and some fruit juice should have guests shuffling around just fine. But remember to be a responsible host! If you're drinking, designate drivers or set up a spot where they can sleep (it off) like the dead! Get the recipe here.
For a delicious non-alcoholic option, how about an Italian Creme Soda? This bloody beautiful beverage is easy and tasty. With just a few simple ingredients, it is sure to please even the most discerning undead guest! Get the full recipe here!
And for dessert: Carol's Cookies! The folks at AMC were kind enough to work up this recipe for the cookies made by Carol on the show. So bake them up and enjoy!
There you have it! One awesome party and only one trip to the grocery store! If you try out these recipes, post about it in the comments below! Better yet, share some pics from your own premiere party! The season premiere of The Walking Dead is on AMC tonight at 9/8 central.
