As if Orphan Black fans didn’t have enough to cheer about upon hearing that Tatiana Maslany was nominated this morning for a Golden Globe, we can now all throw our hands in the air, like we just don’t care, and rejoice that Tatiana has also been dropping some hints this morning about the upcoming second season of the show. When we left Sarah in season one, she was trying to escape Rachel, Leekie and all his “Freaky Leekie” followers. Paul disappeared after telling her about his military past; she watched her twin sister Helena kill her birth mother; had to kill her twin sister for killing her birth mother; found out that Mrs. S might not be who she says she is; and was then left alone in her apartment wondering where Mrs. S and Kira were. So what will Sarah be up to at the beginning of season two? We already know from the creators, John Fawcett and Graeme Manson, that we are going to hit the ground running right from the start; and Maslany recently confirmed that. “She’s on the run again, obviously, trying to find Kira and will stop at nothing to do that. We saw that at the beginning of Season 1, as well, but Sarah’s definitely in a different place and has lived through a lot more.” As mentioned before, Paul just kind of disappeared after he and Sarah left the meeting with Pro-clone Rachel; however, he will be back! She didn’t reveal much, but Maslany says that he’ll definitely be back and has some surprises up his sleeves. Rachel was the last clone that was added at the end of the first season, and she appears to be a very large part of Sarah’s future; as well as a main part of the upcoming season. Rachel is a character that knows who she is; in the sense that she knows that she is a clone, what they are trying to do with the clones, and basically knows everything that the others do not. So it’s a bit different for Maslany to play that character compared to the others. “I got to play with her a little last year, but this year, we’ve really fleshed her out and really given her a lot to contend with, a lot to deal with, and get to know her, personally, a bit more. That’s really exciting. She’s a really mysterious and fascinating character. I’m excited to play somebody like that. I don’t often get to play women like that.” Of course, Maslany can’t escape the question of whether or not more clones are going to be popping up on the show and her answer is the same one we’ve been hearing since the end of season one. “It’s a clone show, isn’t it? I won’t say too much about that, but I will say it’s a clone show. Anything could happen.” Though I’m personally not a big fan of spoilers, I’m dying to know what is going to happen in the upcoming season! Though I won’t sit on Google for hours trying to find leaked scripts, I will sit here and relish in the teases we’ve gotten about season two. Returning characters, bits of storyline arcs, new characters (including Patrick J. Adams and Michiel Huisman who’ve just come aboard), new clones, and, I’m sure there is more to come before the actual premiere. So with all those bits and bobs Clone Club, let’s just sit back and let our imaginations run wild as to what could be coming up! The new season of Orphan Black will premiere on April 19, 2014 on both BBC America and Canada’s Space channel.
