Taylor Swift Gives Kesha $250,000 In A Show Of Support

Taylor Swift shows Kesha support in her fight against Sony and Dr. Luke by giving her $250,000. Get the details about her support to the campaign here!

You have probably heard about the bad luck that Kesha has recently found herself in after a judge denied her request to break or suspend her contract with Sony. However, she still has friends out there including Taylor Swift.

Pebe Sebert, Kesha’s mom, took to Twitter and made the announcement:

Swift’s rep also confirmed this generous assistance to The Huffington Post and said, “In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time.”

Swift is not the only star who has stepped up to help their colleague; Kelly Clarkson, Darren Hayes, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga have also rallied in support of the embattled singer. They and many other musicians are showing their love and have been seen using the #FreeKesha hashtag on social media.

As of today, Kesha has not yet commented on the donation from Swift, but understandably, she has a lot on her plate right now.

The lead up to these events has been building since 2014, when Kesha accused her producer, Dr. Luke, of sexual assault and battery. Since then, the two have been involved in an ongoing dirty legal battle.

Prior to her day in court, Kesha’s contract banned her from working with any other producer except for Dr. Luke. However, since the ruling, though she is not allowed out of her contract, she can work with another Sony producer.

Mark Geragos, Kesha’s lawyer, claimed that Sony was “setting her up to fail,” and that it will not promote any of her music if she doesn’t work with Dr. Luke. At this time, however, Geragos says that it is still unclear if any new music from Kesha will be released until her Sony contract is over.

Though Geragos sees the offer to allow Kesha to work with another producer as a “small step,” their goal was to have a “complete separation from Luke.” He says that “We’re going to move forward and we’re going to get her that. She doesn’t have to be victimized repeatedly by this guy.”
