With a collection of Grammys, MTV moonmen and Billboard
Music Awards, it could be easy for an artist to become vain.
However, Taylor Swift has said in an interview for the UK edition of Glamour Magazine
, that she blocks out both good and bad feedback.
“You can be obsessed with the bad things people say and the good things,” said Swift. “Either way you're obsessed with yourself and I'm not - you can become unhinged so easily.”
“Vanity can apply to both insecurity and egotism.” Swift added. “So I distance myself, because I feel everything.”
Meanwhile, Swift’s comments have made her the perfect target for rising singer Lorde, who called the “Sparks Fly” performer out for being too perfect.
“Taylor Swift is so flawless, and so unattainable, and I don’t think it’s breeding anything good in young girls.” Lorde said whilst recently speaking to The Huffington Post. “
‘I’m never going to be like Taylor Swift, why can’t I be as pretty as Lorde?’ That’s f–king bulls–t.”
Lorde recently took back her comments on a long Tumblr post
However, Swift might have turned the other cheek because of her philosophy.
“The little I am exposed to hurts my feelings.” Swift said. “The only things I can really control are my songs and my behavior. The rest? If I focused on it that would lead to insanity."
This interview comes after Ms. Swift’s announcement of three London tour dates for 2014.
