“New Romantics” was a bonus track on the deluxe edition of 1989. The song is thematically similar to Swift’s mega-hit “Shake It Off,” with triumphant lyrics like, ‘Cause, baby, I could build a castle/ Out of all the bricks they threw at me” and “We are too busy dancing/ To get knocked off our feet.’”
This song is an anthem about being young and free with a pop beat and was “…released on the deluxe version of 1989, which is available at Target and on iTunes. The deluxe edition of the album also has the additional tracks “Wonderland” and “You Are in Love.”
When this song is officially released for streaming on sites like YouTube and SoundCloud, Swift could be up for many more awards to go into her already large collection. The seventh hit of 1989 is already making the Top 40 Chart position on the hot adult contemporary and pop radio formats. Who knows what the single will land on the Billboard Hot 100 upon it’s official release?
