Well, it looks like Scott McCall will be losing another girlfriend, albeit this time considerably less dramatically.

Teen Wolf's Arden Cho announced, in a video blog entitled "Goodbye Teenwolf", that she will not be returning for the show's upcoming sixth season. Cho's character, Kira Yukimura, began as a minor love interest for Tyler Posey's Scott McCall in Season 3, working her way up to series regular status by the following season. For most fans, though, this news won't be entirely unexpected, especially considering the noticeable lack of Cho's character in Season 5.

While other characters were given dramatic new arcs, each tying in someway to the overall story, the writers never really seemed to know what to do with Cho's Kira Yukimura. Despite some interesting developments in her story- including her battle with the fox within and her ongoing half-feud/half-partnership with the Skinwalkers- Kira never really  seemed to stand out among the larger personalities and complex backstories of her Beacon Hills friends.

In the video, despite some initial nerves, Cho seemed incredibly gracious about the news and appreciative of her time on Teen Wolf, stating: “I just want to say I love Kira Yukimura so much. I love the Yukimura family. I loved my experience on Teen Wolf. I love the cast and crew, it’s been an amazing three-and-a-half years."

Although Kira's final scene in Season 5, during which she tells Scott that she's going to live with the Skinwalkers while she learns to control the fox, does provide a clear reason for the character's departure, the end of her story leaves a bit to be desired. Cho continues: "I do wish we would have developed a little bit more of her powers and [the] Skinwalkers and just [that] there would have been more of an epic ending," and we tend to agree. With a smaller cast and less side stories, Kira had the potential to be a pretty badass character. Unfortunately, her character simply fell by the wayside, eventually becoming all but unnecessary.

Of course, with Jeff Davis, you never know if a character will be gone for good and this departure leaves the door wide open for the possibility of Kira's return somewhere down the road. I mean, hey, the man managed to give us an Alison fix from the great beyond. This is Beacon Hills. Who knows what could happen?
