The London-born Stamp is set to play New York Times art critic John Canaday. The story follows the Keane’s heated legal dispute and divorce battle centering on which one of them created the popular large eyed paintings that rose to popularity during the 1950s and 60s.

Stamps’ other credits include the Broadway play Alphie, the films Superman, The Adventures of Pricilla, Queen of the Desert, Red Planet. He also appeared on the long-running CW series Smallville.

Big Eyes is currently in pre production. The film is currently scheduled to be released sometime in 2014.
