Despite reports to the contrary, legendary Python and director Terry Gilliam has not yet passed into the great wide cardboard beyond. Variety published an article yesterday entitled, “Monty Python’s Terry Gilliam, Direct of ‘Brazil,’ Dies at XXX”.
It is unclear whether they were suggesting he was 30 years old at his passing — a surprise, perhaps, to Gilliam himself, as he just tweeted about his upcoming 75th birthday –, if something a bit smutty was involved, or if, somehow, Vin Diesel were responsible for his death.
CORRECTION: Variety incorrectly published an article stating that director Terry Gilliam passed away. We’re deeply sorry for the mistake.

Regardless, Gilliam appears to be alive and kicking, and Variety has since retracted its claim. It’s likely that this is another instance of a magazine preparing advance obituaries for more senior Hollywood folks, though there is always the possibility that it they thought it was something more serious — and it turned out it was just a flesh wound.
To celebrate the good news, check out the new promo video Gilliam has released for his upcoming autobiography, the aptly named, Gilliamesque: A Pre-Posthumous Memoir.
