Brenda Strong To Portray Queen Nia In ‘The 100’

The 100, which returns to The CW this fall, has announced a new cast member. Desperate Housewives’ Brenda Strong will portray Queen Nia.

Stand back Elsa, a new Queen of Ice will soon grace our televisions when CW’s post-apocalyptic teen drama, The 100, returns for season 3.

News of the cast addition broke on Entertainment Weekly recently when they announced that former Desperate Housewife Brenda Strong has been cast as the next adult character in the popular series. She will be playing Queen Nia of the Ice Nation, an area hinted at in season 2 but only recently opened to exploration due to  events taking place in the series.

The first two seasons focused mostly on the crash sites of the Sky People and their relationship with the Grounders, however, it appears that season 3 plans to expand more on the terrain and areas of those who managed to survive on earth.

According to EW‘s report, The Ice Queen seems to have a lot in common with Grounder’s leader Lexa, which is alluded to in her character description: “She does what she must to maintain her power, even when it puts her at odds with those closest to her.”

What could this mean for our characters, who seem to have a hard time keeping peace? Regardless, we hope those Sky People got used to the cold in space…Or at least have jackets.

The 100 is set to return mid season on the CW.

I know I’ve been eagerly awaiting and growing excited for a deeper look into the vast world that has now been extended to our group of rebellious teens.
