Hit CBS TV show The Big Bang Theory has recruited a former Nickelodeon star for when it returns from hiatus next month.
MStarz News reports that Drake & Josh’s Josh Peck will play a rival for Stuart, owner of the comic book shop often shown in TBBT.
“Josh will be playing the owner of the rival, and extremely successful, comic book store,” executive producer Steve Molaro told TV Line recently. His store “is incredible looking and filled with customers”, compared to Stuart’s often-empty one.
Peck has been busy with both TV and film since Drake & Josh ended after four seasons.
He recently guest starred on FOX series The Mindy Project.
He is set to star in biographical drama Bukowski next year, portraying German-American novelist Charles Bukowski during his tumultuous childhood through young adulthood. The film is written and directed by 127 Hours star James Franco.
Several other films are in the works for the 27-year-old actor as well, including another project alongside Franco, The Labryinth, and the comedy Imagine starring Al Pacino, both expected in 2014. Peck makes his debut during The Big Bang Theory’s second episode on January 9.
It returns to CBS on Thursday, January 2, 2014.
