Is anyone else getting all tingly finding out more about season 2 of the Carrie Diaries? I am.
The show’s second season will feature Model/Actress Molly Sims as yet another Sebastian-loving female. The actress will play sexy Vicky, a cougar who is fixated by the 17 year-old Sebastian, and will join Donna LaDonna, amongst many others on Carrie’s increasing list of frenemies, reports Daily Mail.
As delicious as the upcoming drama may sound, it’s yet another variable for Executive Producer Candace Bushnell to tackle. This show is already congested with secondary characters and numerous plot-twists, we worry that Vicky may cause the main plot to suffer.
This spring we were left off with a finale that overflowed with action. Sebastian-wise, we saw him kiss Maggie, reconcile with Carrie, then split with her again. Some have argued—understandably so—that this is very unrealistic on the characters’ parts. But when we think back to how quickly things unraveled during our teens, it serves to excuse much of the show.
Now, being a prequel to a show that featured some of New York’s most favored faces essentially translates to: It is your duty to let the audience see some of those faces again. Earlier this month, we learned that Samantha Jones (hold back your squeals) is going to be introduced in the second season.
Anyone who’s ever seen Samantha from Sex and the City knows that she will be a massive undertaking for the writers, as well as actress Lindsey Gort, who will be playing Carrie’s outrageous friend.
Adding another dominant female figure may take away from Samantha’s spotlight. And trust me, “Samantha Jones,” and “spotlight” are two things that should ever be separated.
We love you, Molly. But next season already seems chaotic enough. Nevertheless, we’re still counting down until the fall.
Season 2 of the Carrie Diaries premieres October 25th, 2013. I can feel my heart beating to the rhythm of the Sex and the City theme song already.
