We miss Sabrina very much!
The cast of 90’s fantasy sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch has reunited at LA Comic Con, and it is as magical as we have imagined!
Main star, Melissa Joan Hart who plays the title character Sabrina, led the group composed of Nate Richert who portrayed love interest Harvey, Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick who played her aunts, Hilda and Zelda, and of course there was Nick Bakay who voiced the family’s magical black cat, Salem, who would often steal the show with his sarcastic remarks.
Later additions to the show were Alimi Ballard, David Lascher, Soleil Moon Frye, and Elisa Donovan also made an appearance.
Hart has some thoughts on the new Sabrina show
Hart shared a picture of the entire cast on her Instagram and wrote: “Missing some of our friends but having fun catching up after 20 years,”.
The cast was in LA Comic Con to attend a panel hosted by Mark Snetiker and with an upcoming reboot of Sabrina The Teenage Witch already being worked on the CW. Snetiker, of course, turned the conversation towards the new darker version of the much beloved 90’s sitcom.
“We’re not involved…The rights reverted back to (Archie Comics) and they’re doing The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which is a darker sort of twist,” said Hart. “I think our show was about magic and family, and I think the new one — it sounds like, I have no idea — but the new one is going to be more about witchcraft, dark stuff. I think it sounds more Buffy the Vampire Slayer than it does Sabrina, so I think it will appeal to a different kind of audience and be a totally different show.”

She is right about that, as the show, after all, is coming to the CW which is known for its bevy of supernatural shows that flirt on the dark side of things. The network is also home to sister-show Riverdale which brought an edgier tone to the normally humorous Archie comics characters.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacassa, the man behind Riverdale, is also taking charge of The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina and earlier this month he shared a script of the upcoming reboot.
The script describes a scene wherein Sabrina is showing her boyfriend Harvey the woods where she was born. She talks that she will also be “reborn” in this woods on the upcoming night of her birthday. This already sets a different tone to the original, and it seems that Harvey may already know that she is a witch and that she may be receiving her magical gifts on the night of her birthday!
There is no word yet on who would be cast in the main roles since it is only pre-production, but if this script is anything to go by we can’t wait for its arrival. Hopefully, though, the cast of the original could play a part or two, even if it’s just a cameo or a guest-starring role.
With that in mind, any thoughts on a dream cast for the reboot?
