You may recognize actor Brian Jordan Alvarez from his role as Jack’s husband on “Will and Grace” or remember him as Jane’s fake friend Wesley on “Jane the Virgin” but, if you’ve been following him on social media, you’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite character from the dozens he portrays on a weekly basis. With the help of video filters and a variety of wigs, Alvarez plays a host of beloved characters such as inspired enlightenment guru Marnie T. , champion Australian weightlifter Rick and his trainer Vardy, Darlise and Erik from the salon along with their nemesis Rebecca Miller, and a plethora of characters that will remind you of any number of people you’ve worked with, been served by, or are related to.
But if followers can’t get enough of his social media sized TikTok videos and Instagram reels, now they have something longer to look forward to. Alvarez and crew are set to drop “A Spy Movie” on December 10th via Youtube. Both Alvarez and longtime collaborator, Stephanie Koenig, have been teasing the upcoming release on their social media accounts with a movie trailer of the film written and directed by Keonig and featuring Alvarez as both protagonist and villain and Koenig in the role of an unwelcome sidekick. Followers will also recognize actors, Chris Riggi and Michael Strassner, who have also been featured in a number of Alvarez’ social media skits.
In case you thought it was a joke, Brian Jordan makes himself clear in the trailer’s comment section with a message that reads in part “I don’t know how else to express this. It is real. December 10th. I am not joking. Get excited!!” While you’re counting down the days check out his Gotham nominated five part series “The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo” on YouTube.
