A new star has come to light with the recent casting announcement for Hollywood’s hotly anticipated new movie, The Fault in Our Stars.
Much loved actor and comedian, Mike Birbiglia, is set to play Patrick. His character runs a Cancer Kids Support Group that suffering protagonists, Hazel (Shailene Woodley) and Augustus (Ansel Elgort), attend.
The casting news was revealed on Twitter by the novel’s author, John Green. Green seemed thrilled at the prospect of one of his “all-time favourite comedians/humans” joining the cast.
The Fault in Our Stars is set for a wide release in 2014 and is expected to appeal to the young adult market. Already generating a lot of buzz, we think it could be a smash!
Woodley is also set to appear as the lead in the latest franchise to hit our screens, Divergent. And her TFIOS cast members are slowly being revealed: so far we have confirmation on Elgort, Birbiglia, True Blood’s Nat Wolff and Laura Dern.
Birbiglia is most famous for his one-man off-Broadway show SLASH book SLASH stand-up special, Sleepwalk With Me. He has a pretty cool This American Life segment and feature film too! Not to mention appearances in Your Sister’s Keeper, Cedar Rapids and the hit HBO show, Girls.

Don’t worry, there aren’t any spoilers.
We can’t wait to see the film!
You can scope Mike out on Netflix if you like, by watching his other stand-up special, My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend.
