Staff WriterMany stars have expressed their sadness at the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was found dead yesterday in his Manhattan apartment from an apparent drug overdose. Among the stars that expressed their condolences at Hoffman’s passing were members of his Hunger Games family. In a joint statement, Jennifer Lawrence, Catching Fire director Francis Lawrence, Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins and other members of the cast had this to say about Hoffman: “Words cannot convey the devastating loss we are all feeling right now. Philip was a wonderful person and an exceptional talent, and our hearts are breaking. Our deepest condolences go out to his family. Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We’re very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip‘s family.” Hoffman was set to complete his final week of shooting of the final Hunger Games film. Although he had a vital part and an imperative scene including him still needed to be filmed, Lionsgate announced that Hoffman’s untimely death will not affect the release of the films in any way, with some “modest rewrites” needing to take place for the character. Mockingjay Part 2 will be Hoffman’s final film performance, and it is set to be released on November 20th, 2015. However, Mockingjay Part 1 is set to be released later this year on November 21st.
