Good news to the fans of Will McAvoy and the rest of the Atlantis Cable News (ACN) team. The Newsroom will be returning for a third season.
The news was leaked by a source on the inside. Sticking true to his hard-hitting news anchor alter-ego McAvoy, Jeff Daniels was the first to break the news on Twitter, tweeting “It’s official. #Newsroom coming back for a Season 3,” just before nine o’clock PT on Tuesday night.
HBO later confirmed the renewal for that much needed second source on Wednesday. They issued a statement saying “We are excited about proceeding to a Season 3 and are continuing our conversations with Aaron about schedules.”
This news came soon after HBO’s announcement that they would be concluding True Blood after it’s seventh season ends next year.
In past episodes, the News Night with Will McAvoy team covered news in our recent past, such as the Fukushima nuclear crisis and the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. We have no idea what is in store for season three yet, but season two will conclude with a two-parter covering election night, airing September 8th and 15th.
