While at the Oscars, we were honoring the best in filmmaking. Last week we got to see the worst of the worst in film honored at the Golden Raspberry Awards or the Razzies.
And it didn’t disappoint at all.
Twilight, which we can all agree was pretty bad, has not yet won one Razzie in any of the key categories.
I know. I was shocked learning that information too.
Clearly the panel of Razzie voters decided to correct this egregious oversight for the magnum opus finale of The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn: Part Two in what I am sure is the Razzie equivalent of the Academy Award Lord of the Rings: Return of the King sweep. Out of the its eleven nominations: Breaking Dawn: Part Two won seven awards including Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Actress for Kristen Stewart (who was dual nominated for Twilight and Snow White and the Huntsman) and Worst Supporting Actor for Taylor Lautner.
As someone who has seen The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn: Part Two in theaters, I approve of this because that movie was bad.
Although my favorite was the Worst Onscreen Couple win for Mackenzie Foy and Taylor Lautner for the truly creepy “romance” between Renesmee Cullen and Jacob Black. Although poor Mackenzie Foy, unlike most of the people in a Twilight movie, she was a pretty good actor.
However, other awful movies were also given their due as well. The truly, truly awful Adam Sandler movie That’s My Boy won Worst Actor and Worst Screenplay. While Rihanna snagged Worst Support Actress in the Hasbro board game inspired movie Battleship.
Our sincerest congratulations to all the “winners”! You all deserved what you got.
