The Real World will return to San Francisco for the 29th season of the reality series.
Jonathan Murray, one of the creators of the series, told Entertainment Weekly: “We’re excited about returning to San Francisco, the location of one of our most memorable seasons of The Real World. The city has always been a great place for young people to explore who they are and what they want to do with their lives”.
The Real World returns to the Golden Gate city 20 years after their first visit during the third season. Some memorable cast members from that third season include reality TV personality Puck, and the late Pedro Zamora, an activist who introduced serious discussions about homosexuality and AIDS to the mainstream media.
MTV executives have admitted that the series’ performance has been rather lower than they’d like in recent years and the show is in need of a fresh spin. Rumor has it the 2014 season may have format tweaks, but nothing has been confirmed on that matter. What is true, though, is that this season will be a “make-or-break” for the series.
The Real World 29th season will air in 2014.
