The ever so popular dark fantasy books known as The Wardstone Chronicles are indeed heading to the big screen! The trailer for the very first part in the series, known as The Seventh Son has already been released online.
Jeff Bridges plays Master Gregory, whose devilish former captive, the evil witch mother Malkin (Julianne Moore) seeks vengeance upon her escape. The master works to train his apprentice (Ben Barnes, who played Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia) so that he may ward off the witch’s terror once she and her minions wreak havoc. The film will be filled with dragons, awesome battle sequences and amazing landscapes!
The very first book in Joseph Delaney’s The Wardstone Chronicles was released back in 2004. There are a grand total of 14 total entries in the series itself. The Seventh Son encountered a big obstacle that threatened the release of the film. It came down to a financing issue that prevented the film from being released in October. Legendary Pictures was left with no other choice, they had to put up almost 5 million dollars so that the visual effects could be completed since VFX House Rhythm & Blues had to file for bankruptcy.
The Seventh Son will hit theaters on Jan 17th, 2014!
