On June 24th, the summer officially began with the premiere of The Shallows.  This is Blake Lively's newest film, where its her in her perfect bikini body versus a very nasty great white shark.  This film brings the fear.  It's the best shark movie we've seen in a minute.

The film begins with footage of a young boy who comes across a go pro.  The footage shows one of the shark's victim's in his final moments.  The boy runs away and the film rewinds to earlier when Blake Lively (Nancy) arrives at her secret Mexican beach.  There isn't much character development but we learn that she is a young med student taking a little break to get some time alone.  She's a Texas girl who likes to surf, and she does just that in Mexico.

Everything starts ok with Nancy hitting the waves, making a few friends, and then she stops for lunch.  Once she gets back in the water, all hell breaks loose.  We won't give anything else away but you will be scared watching this one. If you have a beach trip planned for the summer, than you may want to watch this after.

The film does have a few minor flaws like an attack that leaves us wanting more, and, like we mentioned above, not much time for character development.  However, the film is scary and really fun!

If you're planning on seeing something adventurous this summer and love Blake Lively and sharks then this is your movie.  Shark Week begins tonight, and this movie fits right in.  It's everything Sharknado hoped to be with completely false great white behavior and an adorable seagull that will win your heart.

If you've seen it, what did you think?  How many times did you scream and did your feet touch the floor once because ours didn't?  Check out The Shallows!  It's the shark movie you've been waiting for!
