The Simpsons Actress Marcia Wallace Dies At 70

It has been announced that Marcia Wallace, the voice of the Edna Krabappel in The Simpsons has died at the age of 70.

The Emmy award winning star died at her LA home, no further details have been announced, however the star was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1985. Ms Wallace, who also starred in the highly successful The Bob Newhart Show, had appeared in over 100 episodes, as the elementary school teacher is currently the second Mrs Ned Flanders.

It was announced at the beginning of the month that there will be another character death in the show and the only clue producer Al Jean gave was that the voice artist was an Emmy winner.

Does the news of Ms Wallace’s death mean that the show producers knew that the actress was unwell and they are fully intending to make Ned Flanders a widower yet again? Time will tell, however I get the feeling that the character death will be veiled in secrecy until the episode finally airs.
