The Prince of Wales, accompanied by his wife Camilla, pay a visit to Wales the first week of July every year in what is called “Wales Week.” These visits are supposed to promote the region, and this year, because of the 50th anniversary, Doctor Who has become important enough to deserve a proper visit!

The royal couple will be visiting the BBC Cymru Wales studios in Cardiff, Doctor Who‘s current home, situated not far from the rift in space and time and the location of the Torchwood Institute led by Jack Harkness, which most Whovians will be familiar with.

A spokesperson from Clarence House said: “The Prince and The Duchess always enjoy their annual visit to Wales and this year they are looking forward to a varied programme of engagements including everything from Dylan Thomas’s Boat House to Doctor Who’s TARDIS! Their Royal Highnesses are also keen to highlight the vital work being done across Wales by some of the charities they are involved with.”

Finally, in an open message to the Royal Highnesses, as someone who has visited Cardiff himself very recently, I would highly recommend the Doctor Who Experience! It will turn you into an addicted Whovian in less than an hour, and I’m sure the Whovian community would welcome you with open arms into the world of social media fangirling!

Until then, Matt Smith better straighten his bowtie, because he is meeting royalty!
