The Time Of The Doctor: New Poster, New Face Revealed

When the Doctor comes a-knocking during your family Christmas dinner to sweep you off on another time and space adventure, the correct response is, “Hold on, let me grab my running shoes.” While Clara has yet to show us any athletic wear, the official poster released by the BBC has her along on another of the Doctor’s adventures, still in her paper crown. Steven Moffat’s “The Time of the Doctor,” title, so to follow the recent title theme of the series, has been confirmed to air on Christmas day. The episode’s poster contains an “iconic image” of the Doctor (Matt Smith) being stalked by Silents while holding a dismembered Cyberman head. The BBC has also released an official synopsis for the Eleventh Doctor’s final episode: "Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe's deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them – the Doctor. "Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe." Recent interviews, however, reveal that Smith may not be the Eleventh Doctor, but the Thirteenth. This is due to John Hurt’s War Doctor being included in the official Doctor lineup and David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor using one of his regenerations to heal himself. How this will affect Peter Capaldi’s already confirmed role – only time will tell. After four years of the popular British show, “The Time of the Doctor” will mark Smith’s final performance. Peter Capaldi will take up the Doctor’s mantle in the final moments of the episode before starting officially in 2014. Watch a teaser for “The Time of the Doctor” Christmas Special below:
