Rising rock group The Vanity revisited the ghosts of Beyonce and pornographies past on the set of their rocking “Stay” visual…
The Austin, Texas based quartet comprised of Alex Dugan (vocals), Mic Vredenburgh (guitar), Augie Gmitter (bass), and David Grayson (drums) emerged on the scene in 2014. Armed with memorable hooks, rocking confidence, and soulful vocals the group has rapidly established themselves on the cutting edge.
In 2015 the group released their Are You Going Alone? EP, and they’re kicking off the new year with the release of a new single off the album titled “Stay.”
“Stay” is a rousing track, on which Dugan implores a loved one for some much needed support, even though he knows they’ll probably drop the ball. His raw vocals add a sense of true emotion to the track, and the guitar-driven production adds an unexpected shot of energy to the mix. The resulting track expresses all the frustrations one would feel in such a relationship with the benefit of an anthemic hook!
The group shot the accompanying music video in a Brooklyn warehouse, but not just any old warehouse. This warehouse had history…
Alex Dugan explained that the site was once the home to a porn studio. “It’s not why we picked it, but it was an interesting fact to know when deciding which couch in the green room to sit on” Dugan joked. Adding some glamour to the warehouse’s dubious past, it was also blessed by the presence of none other than Beyonce who shot her “Grown Woman” video on site.
The band added their own touch to the building’s history, as they transformed it into the scene for a rocking performance. Opting to keep their staging simple for their first big visual effort, The Vanity transformed the warehouse into the scene for a rocking performance complete with a brilliant light show!
