Ben Patton Senior Manager @CincyBen If you were one of the thousands of people rooting for Will Champlin on The Voice last season, you’ve probably already heard (and downloaded!) Will’s brand new single, “Last Man Standing.” If you haven’t, you’re forgiven…but remedy the situation and get it now! (DOWNLOAD HERE) Will was arguably an underdog last season, narrowly escaping the chopping block on a few occasions only to find himself in the final three and quite literally, the last man standing. Though he placed third (Tessanne Chin took the title from her fellow Team Adam contestant, while team Christina’s Jacquie Lee took second) Will’s fan base, the "Champs," was undeniable and has continued to grow since last season. With the release of his first single yesterday it was time to show the world what he was really made of sans coaches, mentors and all the glories of television. So, did he deliver? I think he did. I was already a huge fan his other music. Notably “Tap Dancing On A Circus Wire” which we brought to you exclusively before The Voice made Will a household name, and also his other original called “Eye of the Pyramid,” so I was already pretty confident that my ears would like what they heard with this new single. Will’s signature style is embellished with the sounds of a strumming banjo on the track that melds pop and folk sounds into a poignant, but upbeat love song. “Your love is gravity, like a planet pulling me,” he sings; some of my favorite lyrics in the song. I’m a sucker for astronomical references though. As the song goes on, he states that “If they take it all away, I’ll be the last man standing for you,” in what could easily be considered more odes of affection for his wife. “We’ll find harmony when I’m the last man standing.” I think Will found his harmony, and fans will more than likely agree and be eating up this single.
