Move over Rick and Darryl!

AMC has confirmed that a companion series to their groundbreaking hit The Walking Dead has been given the go-ahead!

While the series has yet to be given an official title, it will take place in the same zombie apocalypse setting as The Walking Dead. It will also feature a new location as well as new characters. Since none of the recurring will be appearing, it’s technically not considered a spin-off.

Filming is expected to begin later this year, and we also know that Walking Dead producers Gale Ann Hurd & Davis Alpert are on board as executive producers.

AMC president Charlie Collier, said about the program in a statement:

Almost from the beginning of The Walking Dead on AMC, fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world. In fact, beyond requests for zombie cameos, it’s the question I get asked the most. Obviously, we all take our stewardship of the original franchise incredibly seriously and we, along with Robert, Gale, David and now Dave, are all proceeding with extreme care in order to ensure that we are offering fans something truly compelling, engaging and distinct.

Casting announcements should be hitting the net shortly but, until then, let me know what you guys think of this?

Are you excited for another zombie show?
