A few weeks ago, PopWrapped reported that a Walking Dead spin-off had been given the green light. Gale Anne Hurd, an executive producer on the existing show, has said that the spin-off is still very young as far as development goes.

In an interview with MTV, Hurd stated that while preliminary work has begun on the new installment, a tangible concept has yet to be nailed down.

“That’s still being batted around. It’s very early in the process,” Hurd said.

Hurd continued to explain that the decision to announce the new venture so early was a preemptive strike against potential (and these days, almost inevitable) leaks.

“We realized it was likely to leak the minute we started initial discussions,” explained Hurd. “And that’s why the announcement was made.”

Christian Serratos (The Twilight Saga) and Lawrence Gilliard Jr (The Wire) have already been announced as cast additions for the upcoming fourth season, which premiers this Sunday, October 13 on AMC!

Are you ready, Deadheads? I have a feeling Season Four is going to be the best yet!
