Whether you know them from their reality show or just dig some of their songs, there’s no denying that British boyband, The Wanted, has made a pretty big splash in the US these past couple of years.
They slammed Christina Aguilera after appearing on The Voice, labeling her a “total bitch” and informed the press that Britney Spears refused to look them in the eye while they supported her on her last UK tour. But the band reckons fans appreciate their honesty.
“Our fans know us as being honest, so we give them an honest opinion,” Siva Kaneswaran told Glamour magazine recently.
Though Siva did go on to admit that in hindsight the band’s honesty can be too extreme.
"Some things [we’ve said] in the past have been a bit too extreme,” he claimed, “but as long as people take us - and excuse all the naughty things we say - and focus on our music, I couldn’t care.”
This may come across slightly callous towards other celebs’ feelings, but Siva insists that the band has their fans’ best interests at heart.
"The fans should know who their idols really are - the positives and the negatives. To be glossy - to be fake - I don’t think it’s good for the fans, because they buy into the person. They should buy into the truth, a role model you can trust. I think at heart we’re good people,” the boys recently told Digital Spy.
Do you guys think the boys go too far or do you appreciate their frank comments?
The Wanted are prepping to launch their new album Word Of Mouth on September 16.
