Staff WriterA sequel to the 1998 Oscar Best Picture, Shakespeare in Love is supposedly in the works. The Weinstein Company and Miramax have inked a "multi-year, multi-title film, television and live-stage co-production and co-distribution agreement involving library-derived and original development projects covering some of the most iconic titles in the Miramax history." That means classic Miramax films like Good Will Hunting, Rounders and Flirting With Disaster could make a reappearance either on the big or small screen. The New York Times reported, that TWC co-chair Harvey Weinstein said Shakespeare in Love could be one of the first Miramax films to earn a sequel under this new deal. "The iconic library they created has enabled us to capture the value of the digital distribution revolution and harvest revenue far greater than we ever imagined," said Thomas J. Barrack Jr., Chairman of the Board of Miramax. Keep an eye out for the first of many TWC and Miramax co-productions to begin in mid-2014.
