Following on from the release of their EP Lion’s Den in July, LA quartet The Wilder Society have now released the video for the title track which you can watch below.
Influenced by the likes of Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, Johnny Cash and The Head and the Heart, among others, and having combined their many passions and interests, culminating in a menagerie of sounds and musical styles, The Wilder Society — made up of Chris Molitor, René Cruz, David Powell and Sean Cunningham — are most certainly making a name for themselves, and such a name looks set to be on more and more lips in the coming months.
The Lion’s Den EP was produced by Bill Lefler, who has worked with Ingrid Michaelson and Joshua Radin, and mixes soaring folk anthems and spectacular musical arrangements to deliver what may yet go on to be the collection of the year, with “Lion’s Den” being the undeniable stand-out track.
Asked to sum up the song, the band explains:
For us, “Lion’s Den” is all about embracing the challenges that life throws at you and the courage that living boldly requires. There’s a line in the last chorus that sums it all up: “You can throw me in that Lion’s Den/I’m coming out dead or alive!”
