Martin Scorsese is king in movie making. Countless times, the man has made a box office smash hit. His latest film, The Wolf of Wall Street, is no exception.
In fact, his movie (starring Leonardo DiCaprio) has become the top-grossing film in box offices worldwide. That doesn’t count for inflation, either. What do you think makes this movie such a hit in theaters?
Last weekend, The Wolf of Wall Street soared passed $300 million total. To break that down, it means this film earned almost $108 million domestically and nearly $305 million internationally. It is not easy to sell a movie, especially one that is over 3 hours long, but Red Granite Pictures (who provided the backing) and Paramount did it!
Somehow, the production company managed to get it into movie theaters all through Asia. Often, it’s hard to get a movie into the Asian cinema due to their strict censoring laws. It’s unclear how much The Wolf of Wall Street has made in Asia, but here is a breakdown of sales across Europe: $25.1 million in France, $29.3 million and Ireland, $23.7 million in Germany, $12.9 million in Spain, and $11.4 million in Italy.
Have you seen the movie? Did you like it? Please, share your thoughts below!
