Lovato also discussed the relationship she has with Cowell. They have always had a teasing relationship since she joined the show in season 2, but Demi had nothing but teasing love for the fellow judge. She said, “I don’t have any advice to give someone who has lived like a hundred more years than I have” when asked by E News Online‘s Kristen Dos Santos when asked if she has gave any guidance on how to manage the surveillance around his personal life. She continued, “I mean, I might be off by a few, so maybe 110. But I have a lot fun with him and he’s a great guy. He’ll be good.” 

The popstar hinted that the viewers may see a gentle side of the dad-to-be. Lovato said, “I think we’ve cracked his shell a bit,” about his attitude this season. “I think people are going to see that he’s actually a really nice guy. It doesn’t mean he’s going to be any more polite to contestants that he doesn’t think are talented. But people are going to see a softer side of him definitely this year.”

The “Made in the USA” singer did admit that she was frightened a little bit by Simon in the beginning, but soon she figured out that he’s a big ol’ softie, by explaining, “People are surprised, and I definitely was surprised. Especially after working with him for so long, too. He’s just continued to surprise me…in being just a really great person and he’s really sensitive and he’s a good guy and people only see the really mean Simon on TV. The thing is he’s just saying what all of us are thinking anyways.” 

Lovato is joined by fellow judges Simon Cowell, and newbies Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio. Cowell has revealed some hints about the changes to the singing competition. He said that the Boot Camp and Judges’ homes part of the competition have been dumped in account of a new “suspenseful” appearance to the show.

Cowell also contemplated and spoke on Britney Spears’s time on the show last season. He said that she was not comfortable with the format of the show.

The upcoming season of The X Factor premieres on September 11th on Fox.
