Felicia Day:I mean, you knew she was going to be on this list, right? Felicia is basically Queen of the Nerds. She is the founder of the YouTube channel Geek & Sundry; creator and writer of the web series The Guild; actress, gamer, college graduate with a double major in Maths and Music Performance and a minor in Government (she graduated with a 4.0) and Valedictorian of The College of Natural Science at the University of Texas and all around badass.
Tina Fey:Tina may just be the most likable person in Hollywood. She is arguably one of the most successful writers in the industry. With credits that include Saturday Night Live, Thirty Rock, and Mean Girls, her writing talent is matched only by her comedic brilliance. She's also a huge Star Wars buff who you likely could not beat in a trivia match-up. She gets my vote for celeb I'd most like to have a beer with.
Lisa Kudrow:Did you know that one of our favorite FRIENDS is a Vassar graduate and scientific researcher? After graduating from Vassar, she helped her father in his headache study for eight years before getting her big break on FRIENDS. Her research has been published and Kudrow was able to find a connection between left-handed people and cluster headaches. Also, she's hilarious. I'm sensing a trend here...
Olivia Munn: Oh, hello gorgeous. I've loved Olivia ever since I saw her on The Newsroom. It's obvious that she's brilliant by how well-spoken she is alone; but not only is she incredibly smart, she's also totally geeky. In an interview with AskMen, they wanted her to share some of her geekiest attributes. Here is part of her answer: "I can actually tear apart a PC and put in more memory and the fan -- and I can basically turn any PC into a gaming rig. I love dressing up in superhero outfits and in fact, when I dress up as Wonder Woman, I actually think that I’m more powerful. That is definitely a geeky attribute, when you put on a costume and be like, 'Oh yeah! I can totally kick ass!' -- when you truly can’t." Soooo she's a techie and she enjoys cosplay? Double bonus!
Kate Beckinsale:Did you know that Kate is fluent in four languages? Or how about the fact that she went to Oxford and majored in French and Russian literature. How about the fact that she has won several writing contests? This gorgeous lady is the whole package. Also, the Underworld franchise is kind of amazing.
John Krasinski:What comes to mind when you think of John Krasinski? For me it's, unsurprisingly, The Office. He made such an impact on that show because he was just ridiculously adorable. Women everywhere longed for their own "Jim." But he's not what you would typically think of as a Hollywood leading man. John is a total geek. Before he entered college, he taught English to school children in Costa Rica. He then went to Brown University where he left with playwright credits. Like I said: ridiculously adorable.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt:JGL has made the difficult transition from precocious child star, to full-blown leading man. He's been on my radar since at least 1994 when he starred in Angels in the Outfield. After taking a break from the Hollywood scene, he is back and better than ever. He even attended Columbia for a short while, where he studied Literature, French Poetry, and History. He gives off an air of mystery that only makes us want him more. Brains, brawn, mystery, and sex appeal is not something you typically find in every man; but JGL has it in spades.
Chris Hardwick: Chris Hardwick has made a very successful and lucrative career out of his nerdery. What started out as just a podcast called "The Nerdist" has turned into quite the empire for the former MTv Singled Out host (yes that IS the same guy). Now Chris hosts Talking Dead which is an accompanying talk-show that airs directly after AMC's The Walking Dead. The show always has fabulous guests (often cast and creators of the show itself), and Chris is a gracious and charming host whose absolute adoration for all things comic and zombies is positively infectious.
Joe Manganiello:I know what you're thinking: DANI! THAT IS NO GEEK! Well, I can see why you would think that, seeing as how absolutely gorgeous and downright smoldering this Italian stallion is. But I assure you, his geekery is true. He is a huge comic book fan (and has been on the aforementioned Talking Dead), played Flash Thompson in the 2002 Tony Macguire Spiderman, and was a scrawny high school kid who was frequently dodging bullies. The fact that he looks like he would ruin you for all other men after one night is a recent development. Yum.
Henry Cavill:I know, I know. You are SO sick of seeing me swoon over Henry Cavill. But what can I say? It's Henry's world and we're just living in it! Yes he's beautiful. Yes he's got abs of STEEL (see what I did there?). But he is also 100% pure, authentic geek. He loves reading sci-fi and fantasy novels (specifically The Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan and the Temeraire books, by Naomi Novik); he is a huge fan of the game Skyrim and goes on twenty-hour blackout gaming binges; he masterfully portrayed Charles Brandon in the stunning Showtime series The Tudors; and he's kind of just perfect, okay? Also, he's Superman. I think that'll do for this week's installment of Thirsty Thursday. Be sure to cast your votes in the poll below to see who wins the crown of "Sexiest Celebrity Nerd!"
