Sherlock’s Martin Freeman is headed for Minnesota with his next project, which debuts this spring. As we previously reported, he’s developing a TV adaptation of the 1996 film Fargo, which was written and directed by brothers Ethan and Joel Coen. It’s obviously inspired by the original film, but consists of a new plot and new characters in a new town: Bemidji, Minnesota. The TV show is written by Bones Noah Hawley, and the Coen brothers are executive producing, Slash Film reports. Freeman plays main character Lester Nygaard, whose life is turned upside down after a chance encounter with a stranger, played by Billy Bob Thornton. Thornton was immediately intrigued by the idea of an adaptation, Channel Guide Magazine reports. “I read the pilot and it was flawless. It doesn’t rely on the movie, but it’s its own fresh thing…There was really no reason to not do it, and now it’s actually a feather in your cap to be in a great television show. You don’t have to apologize for being on a great TV show. It’s actually something to be proud of. And when they said it’s only 10 episodes, then you can go back to doing movies, I said, ‘Bingo.’,” he said. Other cast members include NCIS’ Colin Hanks, Private Practice’s Kate Walsh, and Allison Tolman. Fargo premieres Tuesday, April 15 at 10/9c on FX. http://www.Twitter.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.tumblr.com http://www.SoundCloud.com/PopWrapped http://www.Facebook.com/PopWrapped http://www.Instagram.com/PopWrapped http://www.Pinterest.com/PopWrapped http://www.YouTube.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.wordpress.com http://www.PopWrapped.com
