It's Time For 'Spring Break' On This Week's Modern Family | Modern Family
This week's episode of Modern Family begins with Alex frantically checking for college acceptances, so Claire suggests that Alex actually enjoys her spring break, telling her to go with Haley to a music festival. Alex decides that worrying about college would ruin her day, but going to the festival would ruin Haley's, therefore decided on the latter. Thanks to magic of a smart phone Alex could keep checking for updates, leaving Haley with one option: Get Alex drunk. Haley loses her momentarily and then Claire calls and ends up opening her computer and reveals she did not get in to Harvard. Phil is left offended when he comes home from work to find Claire enjoying the music of his banjo- which she previously hated- except he is not playing it, Luke is. Then, to add salt to the wound, Phil cannot seem to make the fabled 'Dunphy Tuck' on the trampoline, but Luke seems to get it first time, despite not properly seeing it completed. Luke then goes back to the banjo, which upsets Phil further and ends up snatching it away, snapping a string in the process, hitting Luke in the eye. Gloria has had to give up her soap operas in return for getting Jay to give up cigars, so to compensate agrees to watch Cam performing in the faculty charity talent show. When they get to the school, Cam discovers that Senor Kaplan is performing the same song but Cam gives up his song and tries his best to aid Kaplan in his performance, but things keep going wrong, looking as if he is trying to sabotage his performance. Kaplan has to let Cam perform instead, but his confidence slips and he tanks the performance. Much to Gloria's delight, Kaplan to confessed it was all a ploy to make Cam look bad, but Gloria turned on his microphone so everybody heard and she got the dramatic soap opera she had been craving. Mitch however is concerned due to Lily's first trip away from home, and thinks she is holding up their secret signal and decides to go and check on her, with Jay's accompaniment so he can smoke a cigar or two without Gloria noticing. When Mitch gets there, he realises Lily was fine and was not giving the signal, but then gets caught as he attempts to leave. He tries to make Lily less embarrassed by telling a scary story but it was not nearly as scary as he remembers but Jay comes to the rescue, terrifying all of the girls at scout camp.
