‘Titanic’ Almost Had An Alternate Ending

James Cameron confirms an alternate ending to the stunning classic, Titanic. Watch it here, and own it on the official DVD release.

Titanic was a phenomenon, both in terms of critical acclaim and commercial success, earning James Cameron 11 Oscars and his first all-time highest-grossing film. Among other polls, the film has also won one for the best ending…but guess what: there’s an alternate finale–and it almost made the cut!

The new scene Cameron filmed back in the day is included in the DVD release of Titanic, but it only went viral now. The original closing finds an old Rose dropping her beloved diamond into the ocean, all in peace. Despite both finales sharing the same outcome, with Heart Of The Ocean ending up in the bottom of the sea, there’s a major twist in the alternate one. It turns out Rose decided to go on a never-ending monologue about life, which is full of metaphors and cheesy as hell. You definitely won’t be able to help but laugh at it.

Not here to ruin the fun, but James Cameron we were really lucky Titanic got to end the way it did. The alternate finale would have totally destroyed the great film that you were watching for the past 3 hours. If anything, it would deny the movie its phenomenal success.

Give it a look below and judge for yourself.
