‘Titanique’ Is The Celine Dion Parody Musical You Didn’t Know You Needed

Titanique, is a “musical shit show” that parodies the Titanic story, as told from the perspective (and musical stylings) of Celine Dion.

There’s a new parody musical in town (out at sea?) that features the wold-famous music of Celine Dion! Grab hold of a flotation device and get ready to meet the sassiest iceberg in musical theater history, because yes, this is a parody of Titanic, and it’s called Titanique! Earlier this month, Tye Blue’s Titanique held a special industry-only preview reading, and we caught a first-look at the hilarious project.

Titanique was co-written by Blue and Broadway’s Constantine Rousouli and Marla Mindelle, who are to be blamed for the audience’s non-stop laughter throughout the preview. All of the infamous moments from the Titanic movie are put on blast, and the vocal talents of the cast will blow you out of the water (and hopefully onto a lifeboat). In the musical, Mindelle retells her version of the famous Titanic story as we’ve never heard it before, while impersonating Celine Dion.

Titanique is musically directed and arranged by Nicholas Connell, who accompanied the cast and directed on piano during the preview. Even though the preview was performed in a concert format, Blue voiced stage directions so that the select audience could envision more of the show.

In addition to Marla Mindelle as Celine Dion, the cast of the Titanique preview consisted of Constantine Rousouli, Stephen Guarino, Alex Ellis, Emma Hunton, Sebastian Lacause, Katherine Tokarz, Tom DeTrinis, and Adam Zelasko.

Can Celine Dion recount the events that took place on the Titanic through song? Was she a little too invested in the romance between Jack and Rose? Will a lip-sync competition determine which characters are able to get on a lifeboat? Will the pure ridiculousness of this “musical shit show” about a famous historical tragedy be at the top of our December bucket list? Yes. The answer is yes.

Watch highlights from the preview reading for Titanique:

Titanique will be fine-tuning its engines for a full performance slate coming this December in Los Angeles. Check back with PopWrapped for more information!
