In one of the many nods to Classic Doctors and episodes in “The Day of the Doctor,” Tom Baker made an appearance to give the Doctor (Matt Smith) hope and peace of mind. Baker describes his time on the popular British sci-fi show to be “the happiest time of [his] whole life.”
Baker, who played the Doctor from 1974 to 1981, made his most recent cameo as The Curator. After this appearance, he was interviewed for the After Party screening, where he shared his feelings about the show:
“It’s been my entire existence. I’m delighted to be celebrating it. It was the happiest time of my whole life.”
Next, he commented on the Whovians: “They give me the credit for making Saturday more fun than it really was, in between the football, Basil Brush and Bruce Forsyth. I was right up there with all those legends and I’m grateful.”
Cheers—have a Jelly Baby! Tom Baker made his guest appearance alongside Billie Piper, Jenna Coleman, and John Hurt. David Tennant reprised his role as the Doctor next to Matt Smith and Hurt.
“The Day of the Doctor” aired Saturday, November 23, 2013. If you can’t get enough of the Doctor, you can watch Peter Davison’s new short film The Five(ish) Doctors, on the BBC One website, and/or the Doctor Who: 50 Years of a TV Icon short below!
