At Universal's "A Celebration of Harry Potter," Tom Felton reunited with his costars from the Harry Potter series for a jam-packed weekend of events, panels, and special announcements at the Universal Orlando Resort. During the press conference on Friday, January 27, Felton was asked about what it's like to mix the Harry Potter fandom with the fandom from The Flash.
"Yes, it’s wonderful," Felton said. "I’m not so much mixing [the shows] like a cocktail, but it’s great. I was saying earlier that it’s quite marvelous that both franchises are best symbolized with a lightening bolt."
Felton also talked about what it was like to join a completely new universe as Julian Albert. "It’s wonderful. It’s a very different world to be honest with you," he said. "Well, nothing’s obviously going to be close to Harry Potter in regard to that Wizarding World, but yeah -- it’s a new world for me." When Felton first got the script, he said that he originally had doubts about joining the series. "I wasn’t inherently a Flash fan. When it first came around, I said I don’t think this is particularly my cup of tea, and then I watched one episode, which turned into thirty-four in about four days. That was enough for me. I said, 'I’m in'."
He went on to describe The Flash is a completely new way, but it makes perfect sense. "To me," he said, "it was like watching Spider-Man and Friends together. It had all the personal relationship of Friends, which I think is really the core of the show and the meat on the bones, but with some fantastic elements and some superhero stuff along the way to keep it entertaining. So I’m having a great time, and the best is yet to come."
New episodes of The Flash air Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW!
