There was a time when punk music was the epitome of rebellion and social protest. One of the most influential punk bands of all time was The Ramones. Yesterday, the last remaining founding member of the influential band died at the age of 62.
Erdélyi Tamás, better known as Tommy Ramone (all the original band members adopted the surname Ramone) was the drummer of the legendary band, and along with Dee Dee, Joey and Johnny, they became some of the most iconic figures in music ever.
Tommy was diagnosed with bile duct cancer and was receiving hospice care at the time of his sad death. Tommy Ramone was the last surviving original member of The Ramones. All his co-founders have sadly, died already.
The Ramones were among the legendary bands that have forever changed rock music – their sardonic humor, unbelievable musical talents and their dedication to music have made them one of the most unique, innovative and brilliant bands of all time.
