The friendship of pop diva Lady Gaga and swing superstar Tony Bennett has been as beautiful as it was unlikely, ever since their first collaboration back in 2011 on the latter’s Duets II album. Now, they’re coming together again for a full-on album filled with only songs delivered between the two of them, rather appropriately entitled Cheek to Cheek.
Tuesday (August 26), a video showing off the perfect example of their great working relationship was put on display with an official studio performance of “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love”. Gaga fronts the song, originally written by Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields in 1928, singing with a stylistic power and finesse that only she could pull off, whereas Tony meets her midway through the song with a verse as timeless as his tone ever was.
The video cuts off to show in-studio antics between the two and the band. Even a French bulldog decidedly makes an appearance throughout the mix!
