When the cast of The Walking Dead took the stage at Madison Square Garden for New York Comic Con on Saturday October 8th, the cast couldn’t really share too much about Season 7 because of THAT cliffhanger ending last year. With host Chris Hardwick at the mic, the panel felt more like one big Talking Dead episode to recap Season 6, but that didn’t stop the cast from (sort of) teasing the upcoming season and sharing their feelings about the series.
Top 7 Moments From The Walking Dead Panel
1. Lincoln’s Letter
Even though Andrew Lincoln was not in attendance, he forced Norman Reedus (via letter) to give up an article of clothing to the person who could answer this question: “How many squirrels did Daryl Dixon throw at Rick when I told him I handcuffed Merle to the rooftop?” Calm down, ladies, he only took off his hat when the correct answer of ‘three’ was shouted from the crowd, but it was hysterical nonetheless. And to make sure Norman read the letter in its entirety, Andrew secretly gave copies to other castmates. So, essentially, Norman was forced to announce his admiration and love for Andrew Lincoln to all of Madison Square Garden (and give up his favorite hat).
2. Melissa Getting Emotional
Melissa McBride became emotional when talking about how much she loves her character Carol. While reflecting with the crowd, she even admitted that she loves how Carol left the pack at the end of Season 6, although Melissa is not completely sure why Carol was motivated to do it.
3. Back To Old Ways
At the panel, Lennie James warned us to be careful “what we wish for” in regard to his character Morgan. Sounds like saving Carol at the end of Season 6 may have made Morgan lose his chill and revert back to his old ways. Could we see old Morgan again this season?! We’re beginning to think so.
4. Abraham’s Making Pancakes
Michael Cudlitz teased that his character Abraham is now searching for someone to spend the rest of his life with. It looks like things are a go for #Sashabe … better put a lid on the Bisquick, Abraham.
5. #Gleggie
Steven Yeun had an emotional moment when he said that Glenn and Maggie are classic and have shown people that successful relationships can happen in this world. He also mentioned that their relationship makes them stronger as individuals. We just hope this relationship is strong enough to take on Negan.
6. Austin Chooses Shane
Austin Nichols shared that his character Spencer is trying to “penetrate” Rosita — metaphorically that is. He also told fans that, if he could choose to play another Walking Dead character, he would choose Shane. Although, at this point, Shane doesn’t even seem so bad.
7. Lucille’s Victim(s)?
As suspected, they did not reveal who was killed in the Season 6 finale (if they are in fact, dead). However, they did inform us that, in the Season 7 premiere, we would find out who was the chosen person … or people. Yes, I said people. It was teased that Negan and Lucille may do more damage than what we are prepared for.
AMC is playing a recap show entitled “The Journey So Far” this Sunday, October 16th at 9PM EST. The premiere for Season 7 airs Sunday, October 23rd, followed by a much needed 90 minute therapy session with Chris Hardwick on Talking Dead.
