Trade Secrets Tease Their Forthcoming EP With “Burning Daylight”

“Burning Daylight is an ode to the night-world and the transformative power of the dark,..”

Trade Secrets, the future synth collective founded by F.J. DeSanto, have always made it their goal to create music that demonstrates who they are as artists as well as how heavily the genres they love – spanning from synth pop to instrumental – influence their personal and professional lives.

They channel many of their own personal experiences, thoughts and feelings into the music they share with the world, debut EP Golden Life which was inspired by DeSanto’s time spent in Tokyo before facing a life-threatening illness perhaps being the key example – but as they’ve evolved, and their fan base grown bigger and stronger, they’ve become an even more cohesive unit, determined to make music that continues to represent everything about them.

It is this passion for who they are as people and artists, and for the industry that continues to show them growing support, that makes them a key band to watch in the future, and their new single “Burning Daylight” is perhaps their strongest release to date. Asked about the concept to and behind the track, the band say: Burning Daylight is an ode to the night-world and the transformative power of the dark, in this case inspired by a descent into the after-hours club culture of Berlin: chemical-fueled surrender, love on the margins, the thrill of burning the candle at both ends—the heady pursuit of life on the tantalizing edge of self-destruction. Time is short, and the time is now.”

The track is taken from the bands’ upcoming EP, These Other Lives Part 1, and will take listeners on a cinematic journey of distance and desire in the digital age. The collection, recorded and produced in several locations around the world and which sees the band be joined by special guests including James Meays of Missing Words and Alex Gonzalez of By An Ion, was mixed and mastered by Trade Secrets’ own Mike Venezia, who reveals: “Sonically, this new body of work focuses more on space, texture, tension and release, all leading to a more dynamic, dramatic effect.”
